On July 17, 2025, the US House of Representatives approved the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act with a tally of 294 to 134. Every Republican present—216 in total—voted yes, alongside 78 Democrats. The legislation establishes a market-structure framework for digital assets, primarily dividing oversight between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. At the time, it represented the most extensive crypto-focused bill to pass either chamber of Congress. The measure was subsequently transmitted to the Senate, where as of mid-2026 it had not yet been enacted.
