A new proof-of-stake blockchain, built with the Cosmos SDK and named the dYdX Chain, went live when its validators produced a genesis block on 26 October 2023. This version 4 release migrated dYdX from StarkEx, the Ethereum layer-2 scaling platform used for v3, to a fully open-source network governed by its community and featuring a decentralised off-chain order book. The dYdX Foundation stated that the deployment capped several years of development and five testnets that involved over 60 validators and trading firms; the complete v4 product was phased in during the weeks after the chain's initial launch.
