Overview
Eigen Labs introduced EigenCloud on 17 June 2025, a service that applies EigenLayer’s restaking model to general-purpose verifiability-as-a-service. The platform allows developers to execute computation off-chain while settlement and payment verification remain on Ethereum. Concurrent with the launch, Andreessen Horowitz invested $70 million via an acquisition of EIGEN tokens from its Crypto Fund IV, building on the $100 million Series B the firm led in Eigen Labs in February 2024. Eigen Labs described EigenCloud as targeting non-DeFi applications such as AI and media, and noted that Securitize is using it to validate asset pricing data for BlackRock’s BUIDL fund.
