Also known as: MGX Binance, Abu Dhabi Binance deal

Overview

Binance has received a $2 billion minority investment from MGX, an Abu Dhabi-based firm, in what the exchange described as its first institutional funding round since its founding roughly eight years ago. The March 2025 deal represents the largest single capital injection into a cryptocurrency company on record. The transaction was executed entirely in USD1, the dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by World Liberty Financial. MGX justified its choice of settlement asset by citing business fit, the nature of the reserve currency and the issuer's compliance record — a decision that attracted attention given USD1's recent launch and its ties to the Trump family. Binance stated the proceeds would be directed toward artificial intelligence, blockchain integration and regulatory adherence.
