Three English founders — Noah Tweedale, Alon Cohen and Dylan Kerler — registered the domain for pump.fun on 19 September 2023 and launched the Solana-based memecoin launchpad on 19 January 2024. The platform allows users to create and trade tokens instantly for under $2, using a fair-launch bonding-curve model without presales; tokens 'graduate' to a decentralised exchange once they hit a market cap of roughly $90,000. pump.fun charges a 1% fee on swaps and 1.5 SOL per graduating token. By January 2025 it had generated nearly $800 million in revenue and launched over 6 million tokens. In July 2025 its PUMP token initial coin offering raised $1.3 billion — $600 million from the public and $720 million privately. The company cashed out $465.5 million into USDC by November 2025 as PUMP fell more than 25%. In December 2024 it blocked UK users after warnings from the Financial Conduct Authority. A January 2025 class action alleges pump.fun operates as an unregistered securities exchange. In the first quarter of 2026 its decentralised exchange volume exceeded $2 billion.
