Financial Action Task Force organization
Overview
The Financial Action Task Force, also referred to as GAFI, is an intergovernmental organisation created in 1989 by the G7. Its mandate is to establish standards and encourage the effective enforcement of legal, regulatory and operational measures aimed at countering money laundering, terrorist financing and other risks to the stability of the global financial system. The body publishes a series of recommendations that constitute the international benchmark for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing efforts.
