Overview

A May 2025 research note from Bernstein, the Wall Street broker and research house, projected that corporate treasury purchases of bitcoin could reach approximately $330 billion by the close of 2029. Within its optimistic scenario, the firm attributed around $124 billion of that sum to Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, and roughly $205 billion to other publicly traded companies—especially smaller, slower-growing ones—that follow Strategy's bitcoin treasury approach. The analysis received broad coverage as one of the first sell-side efforts to estimate the scale of the corporate bitcoin treasury phenomenon. Bernstein has since issued additional research on bitcoin treasury firms and exchange-traded fund flows.
