Overview

Avraham Eisenberg orchestrated the October 2022 incident on Mango Markets, a decentralized exchange built on Solana. The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission stated that he operated two pseudonymous accounts to establish substantial leveraged positions in MNGO/USDC swap contracts. He then rapidly purchased MNGO across three exchanges that supplied data to Mango's price oracle, causing the token's value to increase by more than thirteen times in approximately 30 minutes. Using the artificially inflated collateral, he extracted over $110 million in digital assets. Eisenberg subsequently returned roughly $67 million and kept about $47 million. The CFTC noted this was its first enforcement action concerning oracle manipulation on a decentralized platform.
