Passport Foundation product
Overview
Foundation Devices, a US firm established in 2020 that develops open-source Bitcoin hardware, produces the Passport, a Bitcoin-only hardware wallet that operates in an air-gapped manner. Instead of transferring data through USB, the device relies on QR codes and a microSD card to communicate with companion software; the USB-C port is reserved solely for charging, ensuring that signing remains entirely offline. The wallet’s firmware is open source and can be reproduced and verified. Subsequently, Foundation has released the Passport Prime, which incorporates FIDO security-key, 2FA and password-vault capabilities in addition to Bitcoin signing.
