Project Helvetia project
Overview
A multi-phase proof-of-concept initiative known as Project Helvetia has been conducted by the Bank for International Settlements Innovation Hub in collaboration with the Swiss National Bank. The work examines how a wholesale central bank digital currency, or wCBDC, could be employed on a distributed ledger to settle tokenized assets. The experiments assess the technical viability of such a system, its legal ramifications, and how it might interface with current financial market plumbing.
