1inch Fusion protocol
Overview
1inch Fusion, an intent-based swap mode from the 1inch Network, went live in December 2022. Instead of routing a trade directly across decentralised exchanges, it converts the order into an intent that professional resolvers compete to fill via a Dutch auction. This design eliminates gas costs for the user and resists front-running, as the resolver covers network fees while the price declines until a resolver accepts it. The mode was developed by the same team behind 1inch's aggregation and Limit Order protocols, a project founded in May 2019 by Sergej Kunz and Anton Bukov under Degensoft Ltd. Fusion operates alongside the classic aggregation router, which splits trades across multiple DEXs to optimise pricing. The mechanism later enabled 1inch's cross-chain swap feature, which launched in August 2025. 1inch expanded to Solana in April 2025 and activated cross-chain swaps in August 2025.
