Maple, an institutional lending and onchain asset management platform, was established in 2019 by Sid Powell and Joe Flanagan. Initially focused on undercollateralized lending to trading firms during 2021-2022, it later shifted to overcollateralized institutional credit. The platform has originated over $22 billion in loans and reported approximately $4 billion in assets under management as of 2025. Its yield-bearing syrupUSDC token serves as DeFi collateral across protocols including Morpho, Pendle and Euler.
