Overview

OpenSea launched Seaport, an open-source onchain NFT marketplace protocol, in 2022. Each order is split into an 'offer' (assets the creator gives up) and a 'consideration' (assets received), supporting ETH, ERC-20, ERC-721, and ERC-1155 tokens for bundles, fee splits, and barter trades within a single order. The protocol ensures all parties get expected items before completion. On OpenSea's site, user offers generate Seaport orders; the site monitors Seaport events, shows incoming offers to NFT holders, and upon acceptance creates a matching counter-order for execution. Published on GitHub under ProjectOpenSea, Seaport is available to any marketplace and tracked via Dune Analytics. It replaced OpenSea's earlier Wyvern-based contracts and became the most widely used NFT trading protocol.

Within The Counterparty graph, Seaport connects to 9 tracked entities, most strongly to OpenSea, Pudgy Penguins, Ethereum.
