Ethereum warns wallets and tools may break as G...

Source → pluang.com · 2026-08-18

The Ethereum Foundation announced that the Glamsterdam upgrade, activating on the Platåberget testnet on August 20, will change gas cost assumptions for certain ETH transfers. EIP-8037 introduces a new state gas charge for operations creating new state, meaning transfers to new accounts will cost more than the traditional 21,000 gas, which could break wallets, indexers, and gas estimators that rely on fixed gas limits. Developers are urged to test their software extensively on Platåberget, as the upgrade also includes changes to block production and contract size limits.
